This is just awesome!

This guy is definitely having a hard time, feeling hot under the collar. Did people really wear this type of stuff in real life? What’s going to happen is that he’s going to get arrested for ‘fashion crime’ the moment he leaves this ‘fashion’ shoot.

“Lads and Dads’ sit together in total comfort wearing Carter’s Trigs. This print piece from 1950 captures the family ideal of lounging in your underwear with your father!

Anthropomorphism meets high fashion with Tommy Tucker, a very privileged squirrel from New York, who reigned supreme during the 1940′s. Born in Russia, the photographer Nina Leen grew up in Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, where she achieved acclaim as an animal photographer. She moved to the United States in 1939 where she made amusing and wry observations of her new adopted homeland in photographic series such as “A Teenager Monopolizes the Telephone,” and “The American Male”. Leen joined the staff of Life magazine in 1945 and went on to produce over 40 covers and many spreads for the magazine.

When macrame and crocheted plant holders were fashionable, this guy got a gig in a print ad. Could make ‘muff diving’ joke, but that would be obvious. In today’s world of advertising and obsession with metrosexual good grooming what kind of casting would this guy be up for? Long live Frank Zappa, Borat and all guys who sport the ‘handle-bar’! I wonder if these “Hear Muffs’ actually worked?

These Lyon Maid UK ice cream ads from the 1960′s are awesome. They cover every marketing base …  a cat, rockets, cool girls wearing mini skirts, George Lazenby, a puppet from Gerry Anderson’s Fireball XL5 … what more do you want from your TVC’s?

Social conditioning to make sure that there’s no mixed sexual messages getting out there.

The kind of guys our grandparents would chose for us.

Then there’s the type of girl who doesn’t mind cigarette and pipe smoke …’naice’ girls mum wouldn’t feel intimidated by at all!

After watching the Oscars … this made me laugh. Via

Running in tandem with Kerouac’s displeasure and disappointment was the aptly named ‘Erector’ … what confusing times they were! Older brothers getting a hard on for being ‘hip’ and younger siblings on the prowl for an ‘Erector’ and their local mall. Way out!
